How did you come to be an entrepreneur?
I founded Party411 15 years ago and was the first party site up on the Internet. Party411.com and Party411 Events are separate divisions of the same company. Party411 Events does local events for everyone from the CAVS/Browns
to local corporations and nonprofits plus some national events every now and then.
How did you come up with the idea?
It seemed like fun at the time, but it started me; I didn't start it. I was giving parties on my own when non-profits started calling me to do something for them that was different, creative and original. Voila!
Where have you turned to find capital to grow your company and which institutions have provided it?
From my friends and family. I had no capital when I started out. My capital was my network of very close friends who believed in me. I am a very lucky woman.
Who was your first customer and where did you find them?
The American Cancer Society of Geauga County. They found me after I held a huge event for the masses.
What are some of the advantages to doing business in Cleveland?
It's so easy to make a name for yourself in Cleveland. When I would do large events that had a "twist," we always made national news. People would always say, "who is that woman in Cleveland and what is she doing?"
What advice would you give to someone starting a company here?
Work 24/7. Make yourself irreplaceable until nothing gets done unless you're standing right there. I did it and it worked.
What inspires you?
Creativity: I love coming up with original ideas and pulling them off while entertaining everyone in the room. I also enjoy helping non-profits.
