Nicky Perhacs is a Cleveland native and graduate of Cleveland State University. She has worked in broadcast news on the assignment desk and in various marketing roles. Perhacs is excited to be writing again about her hometown and the amazing people within it. In her spare time, she volunteers with Superheroes to Kids in Ohio, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children facing adversity such as childhood cancers.

Celebrating diversity: Enjoy the 79th Annual One World Day in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens
The 79th annual One World Day on Sunday, Aug. 24 at the Cleveland Cultural Gardens will celebrate multiculturalism and showcase the diverse nationalities and cultural groups in Northeast Ohio. The event features cultural performances, international cuisine, the opportunity to explore about 40 Cultural Gardens, and Cleveland Historical's self-guided audio tours of  the gardens.
Immersive experience: Local artist creates symbolic gateway for Lakefront Nature Preserve
Cleveland public artist Stephen Manka designed and constructed a unique turnstile gate for the Cleveland Lakefront Nature Preserve, blending form and function in his newest installation. The gate, featuring silhouettes of red-winged blackbirds in an egg-like design, serves as a symbolic entrance into "a birding paradise" while also fulfilling practical needs.
Superdogs: Area dog shelters hope Superman’s Krypto will spur adoptions
Local animal shelters hope to capitalize on the fact the new Superman movie was filmed in Cleveland and features Krypto, Superman's Superdog. While haven't seen a significant increase in adoptions yet, shelters like Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter, Cleveland APL, and City Dogs Cleveland are running promotions and showcasing long-term canine residents to attract potential pet parents.
Garden Walk Cleveland Heights: A photographic peek into a diverse array of resident gardens
The annual Garden Walk Cleveland Heights showcased 54 private gardens for self-guided tours last weekend. Visitors experienced a wide range of garden styles, from traditional English gardens to contemporary art displays, and even a treehouse, highlighting the creativity and diversity of Cleveland Heights' gardening community.
