Double Dipped: Heinen’s and Malley’s team up to promote shopping local, sell favorite chocolates

Two family-owned Cleveland businesses that have held a strong presence in Northeast Ohio for nearly a century have come together in a partnership.

Malley’s Chocolates, which is celebrating 90 years of sweet traditions in Cleveland this year, and Heinen’s Grocery Store, which got its start in 1929 when Joe Heinen opened a butcher shop in Shaker Heights and grew into three grocery stores by 1933, are now working together.

For the first time ever, a selection of Malley’s chocolates will be available at Heinen’s locations across Northeast Ohio—making it easier than ever for customers to enjoy their favorite sweet treats.

Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, March 19, a curated selection of everyday Malley’s favorites and seasonal Easter items will be sold in Heinen’s stores, online and on the Heinen’s app—bringing together two family-owned brands with a combined 186 years of deep history in Cleveland and known for their commitment to quality and exceptional customer service.

"We couldn’t be more excited to bring Malley’s Chocolates to Heinen’s shelves,” says Malley’s Chief Strategic Officer Mike Malley. “Both of our companies have been staples in Cleveland households for generations, and this partnership allows us to continue sharing our passion for quality and tradition with even more customers."

Malley’s everyday favorites available at Heinen’s include Assorted candy bars, chocolate covered pretzels, BillyBobs, Buckeyes, and more. For the Easter season, Heinen’s will carry marshmallow eggs, 5-ounce chocolate eggs with assorted fillings, and select solid chocolate rabbits.

"At Heinen’s, we take great pride in offering our customers the best locally-made products, and Malley’s Chocolates is a true Cleveland treasure," says Heinen’s packaged goods director Kimberly Heinen. “We’re thrilled to bring their premium chocolates to our stores and share their legacy of quality and craftsmanship with our customers."

To make chocolate shopping even easier, customers can find the Malley’s products in Heinen’s stores, on the Heinen’s website, or with the Heinen’s app for local delivery and curbside pickup.

Malley’s full product selection will continue to be available at the store’s 18 retail locations or the Malley’s website.

"For more than 90 years, both of our family-owned businesses have been committed to delivering quality and craftsmanship to the communities we serve,” says Malley. “We’re bringing two beloved local brands together in a way that makes it even easier for our customers to enjoy their favorite Malley’s chocolates.”

“Whether it’s picking up a box of Buckeyes at their neighborhood Heinen’s or stocking up on Easter classics, this collaboration is about convenience, quality and bringing together two institutions that have been part of family traditions for decades."
