Joan Yellen Horvitz Performance Gallery.Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) just underwent a major renovation to make improvements to its Gordon Square Theatre lobby, classroom, church and Parish Hall (now known as the Joan Yellen Horvitz Performance Gallery), and building exterior, thanks to CPT’s $12 million capital campaign.
Cleveland Restoration Society will host its SNOOP! Tour of Cleveland Public Theatre, 6415 Detroit Avenue, on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m.
Learn how the project will increase the number of people CPT serves, expand artistic offerings, and create accessible spaces that celebrate its diverse stakeholders. Check out the renovated campus and see how the improvements create a more welcoming, supportive environment for audiences, artists, students, and community members in the Gordon Square Arts District.
Upgrades to the campus include renovations to the Gordon Square Theatre lobby, classroom, and Cabaret Room, along with the conversion of the former St. Mary's Church into the new Joan Yellen Horvitz Performance Gallery.
The Cleveland Public Theatre campus in the Gordon Square Arts District.Although the church has long been part of the campus, the lack of restrooms and accessible entry has limited its use. The project added hardwood flooring, fresh paint, and a south side addition with an accessible entry.
The tour will be led by CPT staff and Marous Brothers Construction director of design Carter Edman. Marous Brothers is the primary design-build firm managing the renovations.
The tour is free to CRS members, but registration is required. Become a CRS member, available at a variety of levels.
The deadline to register for the SNOOP! Tour is this Friday, Oct. 9 at 5 p.m. Email CRS events coordinator Peggy Sexton with any questions.
