Double Decker: Padua High school steps into the 70s this weekend with Halloween Dance

This Saturday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m., Padua Franciscan High School in Parma will  be going back in time—bringing 1970s nostalgia back with legendary rock music at its Double Decker Halloween Dance and costume party.

Double Deckers were known for having two live bands performing at the same time—with one band playing in the gym upstairs and one band playing in the cafeteria downstairs. On Saturday, local favorites Bob Gatewood & Calabash Band and Cleveland’s Breakfast Club will play simultaneously on different floors.

“We are excited to bring back some of our Rock and Roll History enjoyed by thousands of local fans,” spokesperson David Zavagno said in a statement. “The evening will culminate with a great fireworks show and will be the place to be celebrating Halloween in Cleveland.”

Padua was known in the 1970s for its sold-out Double Deckers on Friday nights—bringing in musicians such as Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, the Michael Stanley Band, Hall & Oates, and Eric Carmen and the Raspberries.

The event is open to the public, ages 21 years and older. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Doors open at 6:30 pm.

Double Decker Halloween Dance is sponsored by the Lake Erie Heritage Foundation, which is dedicated to promoting Lake Erie’s history and heritage through community events.
