Photo essay: Canalway Towpath Trail Marathon

Last Saturday, Oct. 7, Canalway hosted its annual fall classic Towpath Marathon, half marathon, and 10K in Canal Basin Park.

Jamison Brickner of Lakemore, Ohio took first place for the men with a time of 2:50:38, followed by Chris Hine of Shaker Heights in second place with a time of 2:57:07, and Johnny Derov of Cleveland in third with a time of 3:00:52.

Anna Seven of Chagrin Falls took first place for the women with a time of 3:34:29, followed by Leah Schaffer of Rocky River in second place with a time of 3:39:56, and Megan Diemer of Beachwood with a time of 3:50:14.

Wing-Kwong Keung, age 72, of Brecksville took first place in the men aged 70-99 category with a time of 6:07:30, while Veronica Genera of Plano, Texas took first in the women aged 55-59 category with a time of 4:52:43.

The Towpath Marathon benefits non-profit Canalway Partners. Participation directly supports the development of the Towpath Trail, Canal Basin Park, and dozens of projects within the Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area—projects that make our community stronger and more vibrant.
