This past Monday, Jan. 19, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Cleveland Museum of Art celebrated the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with programs and activities that honor his life, ideals, and legacy through science, art, performance, storytelling, and hands-on activities.

The museum was packed with guests, who took advantage of the free admission to visit the popular "Renaissance to Runway: The Enduring Italian Houses"  exhibit— the largest fashion exhibition to date at the CMA—which encompasses about 80 fashions and 40 accessories that have come out of several iconic Italian fashion houses in the 20th and 21st centuries.

Banks, and making journals with Akron Children’s.

And there were plenty of opportunities to blow off some energy. For instance, the 10K Movement had everyone up and dancing, and then taught guests a few hip hop moves. Cleveland Heights/University Heights Poet Laureate Michelle R. Smith gave some poetry readings.

And Remember Love Recovery Project hosted a mini flag-making activity to depict our history of protest, care for one another, and contemporary issues.

Photographer Bob Perkoski spent the day at the Art Museum—taking in all the celebrations, activities, and comraderie, and documenting the day for FreshWater Cleveland.
