Photo essay: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in Cleveland

Last Saturday afternoon, Sep. 30, performers and community organizations from Northeast Ohio commemorated the richness of Hispanic culture and highlighted Latin and Hispanic music, dance, and art at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Union Home Mortgage Plaza during Hispanic Heritage Celebration 2023.

DJ Fuse1 was the host and emcee during the free event that featured music and dance performances by Japhet Miranda, Omar Colon + Dalisamel, Comité Mexicano, Julia de Burgos, Club Dominicano De Cleveland, and Ropa Vieja.

Community partners included Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center, Comité Mexicano, Puerto Rican Parade of Cleveland/HPOA, Club Dominicano De Cleveland, Spanish American Committee, Lakeland Community College Hispanic Program, Cleveland Play House, and Teatro Público de Cleveland.

La Mega radio broadcast from the event, while Future Ink Graphics made one-of-a-kind art poster prints. Local vendors and artists were at the event as well, along with FreshWater managing photographer Bob Perkoski, who captured the event with his camera.
