Organizers of Cleveland Museum of Art’s annual Parade the Circle didn’t let a rain storm dampen spirits when the event was rescheduled from June 14 to this past Sunday, June 29, and neither did the thousands of spectators, artists, and other parade participants.
It was the first time in 33 years that the yearly festival was postponed, but people came out in full force to celebrate “Magical Allure: A Vibrant Celebration of the Snowy Owl”—exploring the wisdom and exploration we undertake while undergoing the process of change and illustrated through more than 50 intricate and majestic pieces of colorful artwork.
The reimagined Parade was a hit this past weekend, taking place in the Fine Arts Garden at the south entrance of the museum with a colorful display of wildly creative costumes, giant puppets, and handmade masks constructed by artists, families, schools, and community groups.
The parade took place around Wade Lagoon, highlighting the artists’ handmade ensembles. FreshWater photographer Shawn Brewster caught the magical celebration in this photo essay.
