Whether running in memory of a loved one or jogging with a furry friend, Run Through History is a great way to explore Lake View's 285 acres/Whether running in memory of a loved one or jogging with a furry friend, Run Through History is a great way to explore Lake View's 285 acres/Lake View Cemetery will host its 15th Annual Run Through History on Sunday, Sept. 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 11: 30 a.m. The fun-filled morning features a 5K race beginning at 8:50 a.m. and a 2-mile walk/run at 9 a.m. on the cemetery grounds, 12316 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, 44106.

Lake View president and CEO Katharine Goss says the annual event is a great opportunity to explore the stunning 285 acres that are filled with history and natural beauty. Additionally, the grounds have challenging hills for seasoned runners and winding roads for walkers.

“Whether you are running in memory of someone you love, walking beside a furry friend, or just enjoying the grounds, there is something for everyone,” Goss says.

Garfield Memorial at Lake ViewMore than a race, the Run Through History event offers participants a unique way to experience one of Cleveland’s most historic and beautiful landmarks. As runners and walkers make their way along Lake View’s winding roads, they will pass by historic monuments and sweeping views. The event is designed to be memorable for participants of all ages and abilities.

Early-bird registration is available through Thursday, Sept. 17. The 5K, which begins at 8:50 a.m., is $25 for early registrants. The 2-mile, which begins at 9 a.m., is $20 for early registrants. Registration fees increase after Thursday.

“It’s a terrific run on our winding roads—everybody has a blast,” says Goss. “I encourage everyone to come, even if it’s just to cheer people on.”

Founded in 1869, Lake View Cemetery’s 285 acres comprise a unique sanctuary of discoveries in architecture, geology, sculpture, animal life, and horticulture.
