Have your book...and eat it, too
On Saturday, April 6, Loganberry Books will host its 19th annual Edible Books Festival. Yep, the title is as straightforward as it sounds—contestants will make edible art that’s book-related. (Think "Game of Scones" or "Harry Peeper and the Deathly Mallows.") People of all ages are invited to participate and compete for four different awards: The Logan Award (for most literary), The Otis Award (for most appetizing), The Strong Award (for best binding), and The Zober Award (for best pun). Setup begins at 12 p.m., viewing/voting will take place at 1 p.m., and awards will be announced at 2 p.m. (along with the chance to taste the culinary creations)!

Exit plan
Now in its eighth season, Music for Miles: No Exit has received more than 50 commissions for its unmistakable brand of contemporary avant-garde concert music. Its free, all-ages chamber concerts are held on select second Sundays of the month, including this Sunday, April 8, at 4 p.m. at the Creative Space at Waterloo Arts. For more 411, click here.

On the green scene
With Cuyahoga50 coming around the proverbial bend, it's a big year for Sustainable Cleveland. Be sure to bookmark their spring meetup for the chance to meet (and drink beer with) local sustainability leaders and learn about the events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Cuyahoga River fire. The meetup is taking place Wednesday, April 10, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Great Lakes Brewing Company, with light eats provided and a cash bar. Though the event is free, advance registration is requested if you plan to attend.

Bunny love
Both All City Candy locations (Richmond Heights and Mentor) will offer Easter Bunny photo sessions on Saturday, April 13; Sunday, April 14; and Saturday, April 20 from 12 to 4 p.m. Along with the Easter Bunny meet-and-greet, the store is collecting candy donations for patients of University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, and customers will have the option to purchase a candy item of choice to place into the baskets. For more information, email info@allcitycandy.com

Falling for great art
On April 19, award-winning local artist Douglas Max Utter will debut his newest exhibition, “Falling from the Sky of Now,” at HEDGE Gallery (which is also celebrating its 10th anniversary). A retrospective of Utter's work as an abstract expressionist painter, the exhibition will feature an extensive collection of paintings from the 1970s through today (including never-before-seen oil paintings). Utter’s work will be on display through May 31. HEDGE Gallery will also be producing a full-color catalogue based on the exhibition. To learn more, click here.

Friday night's alright for shopping
For shopping and art aficionados, the best time to experience Gordon Square is on the third Friday of each month. See for yourself on Friday, April 19, from 4 to 7 p.m., when wine, live music, and discounts will be on tap for a "Sip and Shop" offshoot of 78th Street Studios popular "Third Fridays" events. Participating shops include Oceanne, Artful Living Boutique, Fount, and many more. Attendees can also win a manicure from Verdure Salon, the only nail salon in Northeast Ohio that doesn’t use products containing harsh chemicals.
