The 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer's brought 449,000 participants and 408 teams to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo on Oct. 18.
The Alzheimer’s Association, Cleveland Chapter, held its 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer's at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo this past Saturday, Oct. 18, with 449,000 participants and 408 teams participating. Those participants raised $740,701 toward the $825,000 goal. The deadline to meet that goal is December 31.
Two local teams ranked in the Top 50 Teams list of the Alzheimer’s Association’s 2025 List of Top Performers Nationwide:
Team #29, Team Moscarino.
$64,444.03 raised; goal was $60,000
Team Moscarino writes, “We are walking to honor our family members who are suffering from the disease (Carol Moscarino) as well as those we have lost - Grandma Ann Grentzer, Uncle Ed Valla, Don "Doc" Bradford and Mary Loftus. We also honor the caregivers who gave so much to keep our family members safe and secure, especially Henry Moscarino.”
Team #44, Team Amore, Nate Anselmo Family & Friends
$55,700 raised; goal was $40,000
Team Amore writes, “In 2018, after a long and difficult seven-year goodbye, we lost our beloved Father, Nate Nazier Anselmo, at the age of 84 to Lewy body dementia (LBD), a form of Alzheimer's disease. The loss has been incredibly tough, but we are determined to keep his memory alive by doing what we can to bring together a community of family and friends to celebrate Nate and support the Alzheimer's Association in its mission to find a cure.
“Since 2019, we've been hosting Nate-a-Palooza, and each year I try to create something that Dad would have loved, in the way he lived his life: "My Way," just like Frank Sinatra said. With the amazing support of my family and friends, we've been able to pull off four unforgettable events. Talented chefs like Matt Swingos, Chad Witham, and David Lowe have stepped up and offered their skills, helping us create an experience that I think my Dad would have been proud of.
“In 2023, we joined the Greater Cleveland Alzheimer's Association in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer's disease. Our team (Team Amore) in our first two years was small but mighty. This year, we hope that many of our same friends and family members who generously support the Nata-a-Palooza clambake will also register and join us at the Cleveland Walk on Saturday morning, October 18th, at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. There is no charge for registration, and the event is full of support and hope. Having you there to join us would mean the world to us. Many thanks, Tony”
Photographer Reuben Kutash was at the Zoo last Saturday, documenting all of the participants’ journeys and fun on an unusually warm 82-degree October day. Check out the love, good times, and determination!
