CLE-Vignettes: Showing off classic cars

The Jaguar Club of Ohio hosted its 52nd Concours d'Elegance—a judged car show for Jaguar owners—and the European Auto Show at Ursuline College in Pepper Pike this past Saturday, Aug. 2. The car show featured Jaguars and European cars ranging from the unique to the everyday—including Jaguars, MGBs, Volkswagens, Triumphs, Bentleys, Austin Healeys, Aston Martins, Mini Coopers. The Crawford Auto Aviation Museum at the Cleveland History Center showcased its 1956 Lotus Eleven LeMans designed by Colin Chapman and aerodynamicist Frank Costin. Fans of the James Bond film series took photos with the 1960 Aston Martin DB4 on display, while British car enthusiast Terry Smith discussed the restoration of his 1967 Jaguar E Type Si Roadster. “I bought it when it was a wreck in 1998, and it took about four years ago to restore,” Smith told the fans. “I showed it in 2002, and ever since it has [taken first place].”
