As the world tunes in to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, with people following their favorite athletes, sporting events, countries, and teams, a growing Northeast Ohio fan base has been glued to the televisions inside EDWINS Restaurant on Cedar Hill in Cleveland Heights to watch and cheer on Cleveland Heights’ own and U.S. Women’s Hockey Team member Laila Edwards.
Edwards, a Cleveland Heights native, has helped her Olympic team keep its undefeated record—with one assist in the win against Czechia, two assists in the win against Finland. The team beat Switzerland yesterday, Monday, Feb. 9, and takes on rival Canada tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 10.
“Our family spends a lot of time on the ice, and hockey has taught my kids—and me—about discipline, sacrifice, and showing up for your team,” says EDWINS founder Brandon Chrostowski. “Those lessons carry straight into the EDWINS mission.”
EDWINS is decorated for the Team USA Women's Hockey Olympic games watch parties to support Laila Edwards. In addition to being a well-known restauranteur, James Beard Foundation’s inaugural 2025 Impact Award winner, and world humanitarian, EDWINS founder Brandon Chrostowski is also a hockey fan.
True to form, Chrostowski hosted a free watch party at EDWINS on Saturday, Feb. 7—opening the establishment to fans in the morning to watch the win against Czechia.
Now, noting that he doesn’t anticipate a huge rush of customers to flood in after taking the day off work for the 2 p.m. game today, EDWINS will host fans at 11 p.m. tonight for a viewing of the matchup against Canada.
Admission is free, and Chrostowski will sell $2 house beers and a selection of late-night snacks.
Chrostowski says he’s promoting Edwards’ performance in the Olympic games because she represents the same values he and his children have learned through playing hockey.
“Seeing someone like Laila Edwards, who grew up right here in Cleveland Heights, represent those values at the highest level is a powerful reminder of what’s possible,” he says. “Having those values displayed on the world stage is what the Olympics are all about. It makes watching these games especially meaningful.”
Additionally, Chrostowski says Edwards—the first Black woman on a Team USA hockey team—is a positive role model to be celebrated.
“That is a significant achievement for her and women in sports,” he says. “It is amazing for young girls to have someone who looks like them achieve the highest level in the sport and to have representation for young aspiring athletes.”
