It was a good old case of whodunit, loosely based on several Cleveland baseball personalities in the late 1940s.
The first drink was on the house, with plenty of options to choose from.About 30 people came out to the Cleveland History Center last Thursday, Jan. 22, to figure out who the murderer was in the latest installment of the Western Reserve Historical Society (WRHS) Murder Mystery Series, “Municipal Murder: The Final Pitch.”
Every participant was assigned a different character with a background story and directions to act out and engage with the other characters. Participants were tasked to mingle with other participants, acting out the events that unfolded.
Evidence was then presented and all participants then completed their ballot, voting for the culprit. The guilty party was announced and justice was had.
The event was quite a social experience and new friendships were made. Many of the participants I spoke with were regular murder mystery participants and they enjoyed the event.
It’s also a good event for newbies to murder mystery where you can gather friends and play detective. The refreshments were a nice touch, and the hosts were very friendly and helpful.
“Municipal Murder” continues to run on Thursday evenings through March 5. The next event is Thursday, Feb. 5, from 6:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets cost $33.65 for WRHS members and $49.70 for nonmembers and include one drink, charcuterie spread, full access to the museum, and parking in the guest lot.
