Ofrendas, skulls and skeletons, and music: Celebrating Día de Muertos in photos

Last Saturday, Nov. 1, the day after Halloween, crowds gathered in the Gordon Square Arts District for the 21st annual  Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead), presented by Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT)/ Teatro Público de Cleveland (TPC) and Día de Muertos Ohio.

Thousands of people remembered their loved ones and conjured fond memories as the Procession of Skulls and Skeletons moved down Detroit Avenue with an entourage of celebrants in costumes, wearing elaborate makeup, on stilts, and adorned in other colorful decorations.

FreshWater photographer Reuben Kutash blended in with the celebration to document the day in photographs. Relive the fun!
