Affordable housing is one of the most critical basic needs of everyone. But Cleveland is lacking in affordable, quality housing, experts say, and the Black population is most impacted. While Cleveland and many neighborhood CDCs are working to improve affordable housing options, the need—especially in Black communities—is still great.

Cleveland Masterworks: Woodland Cemetery in the Central neighborhood is one of the city's earliest examples of the mid-19^th Century garden cemeteries—rural landscaped areas that encourage visitors to linger. Woodland Cemetery hosts a large cross-section of Cleveland residents, political leaders, and people involved in about every controversy of the 19^th Century. 

The 26th Head of the Cuyahoga takes place this weekend, with more than 2,000 people from 15 states and Canada descending upon the Flats. It seems like a good time to reflect on the river's progress in the past 53 years, as rowing and other water recreation, business, and environmental stewardship grows. 

Tom Hanks has autographed a "Wilson" volleyball replica from the 2000 movie "Cast Away" to raise money for the Greater Cleveland Film Commission. The ball will be raffled off at Hanks' appearance on "From Cleveland, For Cleveland" at the Capitol Theatre in November.

Cleveland Masterworks: While Great Lakes marine transportation companies have come and gone over the past century, the Interlake Steamship Company has weathered unpredictable Lake Erie since 1913. In fact, today it will launch the MV Mark W. Barker, the first new cargo vessel built on the Great Lakes in 41 years.

Earlier this month, Graffiti HeArt brought French street artist Blek Le Rat to Cleveland to paint four murals around town—including one of his most famous works on the Cuyahoga River Viaduct by Merwin's Wharf.

The manor home of Morris A. Bradley was one of the last remaining homes on Euclid Avenue's Millionaire's Row before it was razed to make way for the One Midtown townhomes. But the Bradley carriage house still stands today—an historic landmark and home to a variety of noted Clevelanders.
